The collection for Medical Aid for Palestinians at our public meeting on Monday raised £493, and we’ve added the same amount from our bank account.
Here Gareth Jenkins and Despina Karayianni from the Hackney Stop the War Committee, and John Rose, one of our speakers on Monday, present the total of £986 to Tony Laurance, Chief Executive of MAP.
160 people attended Hackney Stop the War’s Stop the Massacre in Gaza meeting at the Round Chapel on Monday 4 August.
The audience gave warm applause to four speakers: Bernard Regan from Palestine Solidarity; Palestinian activist Riya Al-Sanah; John Rose, author of “The Myths of Zionism”; and John Rees, National Officer of Stop the War Coalition.
A collection was held for Medical Aid for Palestinians, which raised £493. Hackney Stop the War will add the same amount to the collection, so £986 will go towards desperately needed medical care.
People attending the meeting took away two thousand leaflets for Saturday’s national demo, and signed for four leafletting sessions to publicise the demo this week.
